PMPH-USA Ltd Announces the Publication of EMS -- A Practical Global Guidebook by Tintinalli, Cameron, and Holliman.
EMS: A Practical Global Guidebook is the first resource designed to be used by EMS services teams worldwide, and is edited by an international team of experts.
Judith E. Tintinalli, MD, MS, Peter Cameron MBBS, MD, FACEM, and James Holliman, MD, all experts in the field of emergency medicine, have come together to write this groundbreaking and important book at a time when emergency medicine techniques have never been more important.
The World Health Organization recognizes that each year more than 100 million people worldwide sustain injuries, that more than five million people die from violence and injury, and that 90% of the global burden of violence and injury mortality occurs in low- and middle-income countries.
The WHO also recognizes that improved organization and planning for provision of trauma and emergency care is an essential part of integrated health-care delivery and that it plays an important role in preparedness for, and response to, mass-casualty incidents. EMS organization and planning lowers mortality, reduces disability, and prevents other adverse health outcomes arising from the burden of everyday injuries.
In response to a growing need for coordination and communication across nations and cultures, this book is designed to help the global EMS community come together to establish and develop coordinated components of global and national EMS systems. Indeed, the authors were assisted by I75 contributors from 15 countries during the creation of the book.
The book is officially sponsored by the International Federation for Emergency Medicine and will be launched at the International Conference on Emergency Medicine 2010 to be held in Singapore from 9-12, June, 2010.
